Process About the first sessionIn our first session I will ask you to fill out an intake/evaluation form to find out about your specific needs, problem areas, medical history and other pertinent information. Then I will look at your posture and how you stand and pinpoint where you hold tension in your body and how it might be affecting your posture and breathing. I will also ask you about your specific goals as to what you want to achieve from the work and describe my work style and intention and what you can expect from it. I will also ask you about your preferences and what has worked for you and what has not as far as bodywork you might have received in the past and what are your expectations. After the first session we can determine if this work is suited for you and meets your expectations and needs and discuss a treatment plan for a specific number of sessions at a pace that your finances and time will allow it. Since my work is therapeutic in nature, process oriented and geared towards personal growth, it may take several sessions for an extended period of time to achieve the results desired. It will all depend on your level of commitment to your own personal evolution and the resources in terms of time and money you are willing to invest. A Typical SessionDuring a session, you can expect to do some support grounding exercises and movement to increase the energy flow throughout your body , bring out more aliveness and help bring awareness to your body and the feelings and sensations you might be experiencing. I will also ask you to notice your breath pattern and breathe in a certain way to connect to and energize different parts of your body and make you more aware of where and how you hold tension in certain parts of your body and how they relate to your breathing pattern and emotional state. I also invite verbal expression and sharing of what is coming up for you before or during the work to establish rapport and engage your mind in remembering past events or bring up negative thoughts or actual conflictive situations. Then, I will proceed with hands-on work using deep tissue manipulations with varying degrees of pressure, always working within your pain threshold, to access and help you release deeply held tension in the tissue and the associated emotional charge. To this end, I will encourage to use your breath and your voice to help facilitate this process and connect to the experience of feeling and releasing emotional pain and hurt and self limiting beliefs as well as the muscular holding and tension in the body. I finish with energy work and visualizations to integrate the work and help you feel more grounded after the releasing of toxins, both emotional and physical. As part of the ongoing process, I suggest a number of support activities such as exercises, lifestyle changes, nutritional advice, wellness tips, etc. to complement your therapy and help you integrate and maintain the changes you will be going through. I recommend drinking a lot of water, herbal teas and doing a detox bath after each session. Also keeping a journal and writing down your dreams and listening to your body to become more aware of any changes or shifts in your body, your thought patterns, energy level and emotional states.
